Vintage DOE: Accomplishments
We're reviewing archive DOE content and sharing some of the best here on the Energy Blog. The below video from the Office of Science and Technology Information and the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science does a great job detailing DOE's accomplishments -- and with some energetic music to boot!
Among the accomplishments showcased in the vintage short clip:
Decoding three of the chromosomes in your DNA
Developing batteries that power U.S. spacecrafts
Winning more than 80 Nobel prizes
Discovering 8 transuranium elements that are on the Periodic Table
Advancing medicine by contributing to the development of CAT, PET and MRI scanners
Discovering the path of carbon in photosynthesis leading to solar energy research
The video references a website toward the end which you can still visit to this day to keep up on the most up-to-date list of the greatest Department of Energy feats.
